Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) is pleased to present to the public the digital exhibition "Her soul, His verse" | “Your Shadow, My Poems” – a brilliant harmony of light, symbols and poems, bringing together more than 200 typical works of the Pre-Raphaelite school. Originating in the United Kingdom in the mid-nineteenth century, a group of young artists including John Everett Millais, William Holman Hunt, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and their associates founded the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, initiating a silent but fierce aesthetic rebellion.
They protested against the rigid academic standards of their time, aiming for a primordial visual truth - where painting rediscovered the spiritual depth of art before Raphael's time.
Their aesthetic language was shaped in the context of profound changes in industrial society; Nurtured by a passion for literature, myth, and medieval poetry; and above all, crystallized through the image of women - the embodiment of ideal beauty, aspirations, faith and even silent tragedies. Exhibition “Her Soul, His Verse” | “Your Shadow, My Poem” opens a multi-sensory experience space, inviting the audience to accompany the poetic journey of Pre-Raphaelite artists, and contemplate the ever-expanding layers of meaning at the intersection of art and life.
Part of the "World Classics Exhibition Series" organized annually by VCCA, the exhibition aims to popularize the fundamental values of human culture and art through digital presentation.
The VCCA space is elaborately designed with a restrained lighting system, bringing viewers into a universe where music and painting blend together. During the exhibition, VCCA will also organize satellite events such as talks, art tours, and workshops so that audiences can approach academic art from many angles.
