NEVER BEEN HERE

Gate Gate Gallery is pleased to present the duo exhibition "Never Been Here - Như chưa từng ở đây," featuring works by artists Nguyễn Thái Bảo and Hoàng Phạm Gia Khang. Through video, game, and interactive installation, the exhibition opens a profound dialogue on perception, corporeality, and presence - where technology transcends its role as a mere medium to become a subject of contemplation. Does knowing a thing mean becoming it?

Or by becoming something, do we truly understand it? Entering the exhibition space, visitors will follow an "intelligence" in search of its own form through the lens of Thái Bảo - an artificial consciousness cloaked in the body of a centaur, existing in a world to which it can never truly belong. In another dimension, Gia Khang’s work draws our gaze into the abyssal sky, only to release it back to earth.

Through a machine vision mechanism transformed into mechanical eyes above, we look up, suddenly realizing that something has been gazing down at us all along. "Have we, or it, been here all along, yet as if never truly present?"

The exhibition serves as an invitation for viewers to move beyond traditional observation, to experience the fragility of cognition, and to linger in the quiet intersection between humanity and technology. Curated by Hà Châu Bảo Nhi, the exhibition is organized and produced by MakerLab VN, with sponsorship from RMIT University Vietnam, Gate Gate Gallery, and accompanied by Vietnam Media Lab and toong. - Open to the public: October 25, 2026 - November 29, 2026 -
